What is Yoga?
Yoga is a p
hysical practice of conscious breath and the holding or moving through postures with the goal of increasing flexibility, strength and peace of mind. Literally, the word Yoga translates from Sanskrit into English as “yoke”. The discipline of Yoga is associated with both ancient and modern philosophical movements in India.
What kind of Yoga do you teach?
Each class, students are asked to examine where they are at that moment and where they want to go by flowing through a series of poses. How strong are you today? How flexible are you today? Where is your breath? What is your mental state? What are the goals of your practice today? With these questions and steady, conscious breath, students work through each pose deciding for themselves when it is best to forge ahead and when it is smarter to pull back.
Who is the teacher and what is their background?
Anneke Wisner has a lifetime of experience in dance including Modern, Ballet, Hip Hop and Belly Dance, and has long been involved in Theater as an actor and movement performer. She feels blessed to have found Yoga, where she may continue to discover the importance of stretch, breath, meditation and muscular integrity. Anneke is thrilled to be able to share her Yoga practice with others, [both as student and instructor] here at WAKF/CFH.
