Oops.. No. It's $20. Maybe it was $10 last year.

My fault.

Glassman needs a new pair of Oakley sunglasses, I guess.

So it appears that it costs $20. At least that's what it wanted to charge me. Did I miss something?

Origin

The Roman poet Sextus Propertius gave us the earliest form of this saying in Elegies:
"Always toward absent lovers love's tide stronger flows."

The contemporary version appears in The Pocket Magazine of Classic and Polite Literature, 1832, in a piece by a Miss Stickland:

'Tis absense, however, that makes the heart grow fonder.

The phrase was also source material for the lewd wordplay:

"Absinthe makes the fart grow stronger".

That's what I do and I'm pretty sure that Seth does it that way too. I would imagine that is faster both due to a shorter bell path but also because by bending your arms a little bit near the bottom on the way up you are able to provide an additional accelerating force to the bell. It may also provide a bit of reduced overall time at the top too on the deceleration because you're able to use gravity more to brake the bell (and thereby wait longer to slow it down).

Last time I did kb swings I tried keeping the bell closer to me on the upswing & kind of pressing it out at the top... so I guess instead of keeping straight arms on the upswing, I bent them a little.

I haven't really analyzed it, but it *seems* like this would be faster (and maybe more efficient) because the bell is traveling a slightly shorter path. One thing is certain though, my upper arms got more tired :p
